Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
MK Contracting Group (“MKC Group”, “we”, “us”) renovates and builds homes and commercial properties in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, by phone and by email, why we collect it, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information we collect
- Estimate requests: the kind of project, the service, your timeline, your city, any project details you type in, and your name, phone number and email address.
- Photos, videos, 3D scans and files you choose to add to a request, and links to scans. Photos are resized on your device and their location data is removed before they are sent. Videos are sent as recorded, so they may include the place and time they were taken.
- Job applications: your name, phone number, email address, the position, your cover letter and, if you add them, your résumé and a link to your online profile.
- Calls, emails and messages: what you tell us when you contact us, and our notes about your project.
- Website visits (see section 5): the pages viewed, when, how you reached the site, and the type of device and browser. Without your consent this is counted anonymously.
We do not ask for payment card numbers or government ID through the website. Please don’t include people or personal documents in the photos and videos you send.
2. How we use it
- To reply to your request and book a visit.
- To prepare your estimate, drawings, engineering, permit applications and the work itself.
- To manage your project, invoices, warranty and service after the work is done.
- To assess job applications.
- To run and secure the website, block spam, and see which pages help people, so we can improve it.
- To alert our staff in real time about activity on the website, for example a new estimate request or that someone is reading a service page. These alerts never say who you are unless you sent us a request.
- To measure whether our ads lead to requests, and to show our ads to people who visited our website, only if you allow advertising.
- To meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations.
We use your information only for these purposes, or as the law requires or allows. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use outside services to find out who anonymous visitors are.
3. Your consent
When you send a request or an application, you consent to us using your information for the purposes above. If you add photos, videos or scans, we ask for your consent before you send them. The estimate form also offers a separate, unticked box to attach the pages you viewed on our website to your request; we only do that if you tick it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contract limits; without it we may not be able to give you an estimate or complete the work.
4. Who helps us, and when we share it
- Website hosting: WordPress.com, run by Automattic Inc. in the United States, hosts the website, its database and the files you upload. Its built-in tools also count visits (Jetpack Stats) and check form submissions for spam (Akismet), which involves your IP address, browser details and what you typed in the form.
- Email: our email runs on Google Workspace (Google LLC).
- Staff alerts: we may use a notification service (such as Pushover or ntfy) to alert our team’s phones. Alerts contain the page and type of request, not your name, phone number or email.
- Only if you allow them on our privacy choices panel: Google Analytics and Google Ads (Google LLC), Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising (Microsoft Corporation), and the Meta Pixel for Facebook and Instagram ads (Meta Platforms, Inc.). Google, Microsoft and Meta may also use the information for their own purposes, including advertising. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites), the Microsoft Privacy Statement (privacy.microsoft.com) and Meta’s Privacy Policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy).
- With the engineers, suppliers and subcontractors working on your project, limited to what they need.
- With municipalities, utilities and other authorities when your project needs permits, inspections, utility locates or rebate applications.
- With our financing partner, only if you choose to apply for financing. You apply with them directly, under their privacy policy.
- When the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
- With a buyer or successor if our business is sold or merged, under the same protections.
These providers store and process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. Information held there is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts and authorities.
5. Website visits, cookies and your privacy choices
When you first visit, a small panel lets you accept, reject or choose. Nothing optional runs until you choose, and the website works fully if you reject everything. You can change your choice at any time with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.
- Always on, without cookies: an anonymous count of page views and key actions (such as tapping the phone number or starting the estimate form), with the page, the time, the site or ad campaign that sent you, and your device, browser and screen type. Your IP address is shortened before it is stored and is not used to identify you.
- Analytics (only if you allow it): a random visitor number stored in your browser so we can see how one visit moves through the site and recognize a return visit, for up to 13 months. If Google Analytics is in use, it runs under this choice too.
- Recordings (only if you allow it): Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used (scrolling, clicks) with the text you type hidden. It is never used on the estimate form.
- Advertising (only if you allow it): Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) tags that tell us whether an ad led to a request and let these services show our ads to people who visited our website.
- Saved on your device only: your light or dark display choice, the reduce-motion setting, your privacy choice, an estimate you have not sent yet with its photos (until you send it or start over), and the list of pages you viewed in this browser tab, which is sent to us only if you tick the box on the estimate form.
You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as “reject” for the optional choices.
6. How long we keep it
- Estimate requests that do not lead to a project, with their photos, videos and scans: up to 24 months after our last contact.
- Project and contract records: as long as the project, warranty and service need them, and at least six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as Canada Revenue Agency rules require.
- Job applications: up to 12 months.
- Files added to an estimate that is never sent: deleted within 3 days.
- Website visit data: 13 months, after which we keep only totals that don’t identify anyone. Visit history attached to a request: up to 12 months.
- Messages caught as spam: 30 days.
After that we delete it securely or remove what identifies you.
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable physical, organizational and technical safeguards: access only for staff who need it, protected accounts, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and private storage for the files you upload, which only signed-in staff can open. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send information we have not asked for, such as payment card numbers, by email. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires, and we keep a record of every breach.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, including any website visit history attached to your request, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Contact our Privacy Officer below and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). If you live in Quebec, you can also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
9. Messages from us
We contact you about your request and your project. We do not send marketing emails or texts without your consent, and every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe.
10. Children
Our website and services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as suppliers’ catalogues, maps, social media and our financing partner. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version, and any change will be posted on this page. If we start using your information in a new way, we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
